2017 Kia Sportage reviews

The Kia Sportage 2017 enters its fourth generation and with it brings a fun and fresh new design. Yes, it’s a bit pricier than its predecessors but it justifies this with a sleek new look and tons of great features.

The Sportage’s title is apt giving its sporty appeal and fashionable style and it has some noteworthy upgrades. It’s worth mentioning that the Kia Sportage 2017 has done away with manual transmission in all its trims which could be a big contributor to the price increase.

On the downside, the interior seems quite a bit smaller (the back suffers more than the front) and there are mixed feelings about the space in the boot being too little, however there is extra storage space under the boot floor and the rear setbacks are also easily folded down.

Let’s have a look at the specs on the three different trims.

The base level LX comes in at about $22,000 and packs 182 hp and 177 Ib-ft torque with a 2.4 litre 4-cylinder GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engine. It also boasts 17” alloy wheels, ABS, cloth seat trim, air conditioning, auto on/off headlights, cruise control, airbags, a USB port and more.

The tank capacity on the LX is 15.3 gallons for both the AWD and FWD. Fuel economy on the 2.0 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway with the 2.4 litre giving about 19 MPG in the city and the highway.

EX

The middle sibling, the EX, starts at about $25,000 and pushes out the same amount of horsepower and torque as the LX. Its comes standard with 18″ alloys, auto on/off headlights, dual zone automatic air conditioning, standard leather trimmed seats, a push start button with a smart key, heated seats and cushions at the front.

Additional extras include a panoramic sunroof, heated outside mirrors, front fog lights, a cooled glove compartment, auto dimming rearview mirror, a windshield de-icer, an Infinity surround sound audio system and a UVO Infotainment system.

Tank capacity and fuel economy are the same as for the LX.

The big brother of the three, the top-end SX, will set you back about $30,000 and offers a turbocharged 2.0 litre 4 cylinder engine and cranks out an impressive 260 hp and 269 Ib-ft torque. It comes standard with 18″ alloys, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, LED daytime running lights and rear taillights power-folding outside mirrors, rear-camera display and so much more.
